TOKYO —
Comedian and film director Takeshi Kitano, 61, couldn’t resist the urge to joke about the scandals of Mona Yamamoto, whom his agency Office Kitano represents, during Fuji TV’s 27-hour variety program hosted by comedian Sanma, 53, over the weekend.
Takeshi said, “Some tabloid magazines reported ‘Takeshi is angry about Mona.’ I know I shouldn’t make fun of her troubles in public, but rather, I’m very pleased about the scandal from a comedian’s point of of view.”

Although i am fan of Sanma, this 27Hr Tv show was a complete mess - flop. As for Mona she will continue to stir entertainment world.

Sanma? sanma is the most obnoxious pest on TV. Variety TV is quite some oxymoron. After 27 hours of that trash people are likely to go and stab someone...sadly that is probably not far from the truth.

27 hours of a Japanese variety program? Wow. They must've crammed a whole month's worth of crappy jokes, inane challenges, and stream-of-conscious 'talk' into one program. Now what are we going to do for entertainment?

Monna "scandals" are still funny even it is a private matter...

I watched quite a bit of it, and it just seemed to be ad-lib after ad-lib after lib. Seemed like the producers just said, "Ok guys, you each get X amount of air, so just go in front of the cameras and do something funny, err ... try to do something funny for 27 hours please".

Kitano is way over-rated and I have never understood why he wins plaudits and awards. He directed some good films years ago (Kid's Return, Sonatine, Violent Cop), but Battle Royale was rubbish and irresponsible and his current tv programmes are pathetic. Taking a cheap shot at one of his employees who was unfairly dismissed (Nioka is still in a job, as is the Fuji announcer in today's news) just about sums him (and his tv programmes) up.

Someone made a joke during 27 hour TV? Was it before or after the hilarious paint fight?
