Takeshi to make his first ever sequel with 'Outrage 2'

TOKYO —
Takeshi Kitano, 63, has announced that he is planning to direct a sequel to this year’s “Outrage.” The follow-up to his ultra-violent mob movie, due to open in autumn next year, is to be titled “Outrage 2.”
Kitano’s management announced that he plans to outdo himself with this, his first sequel, which is to be a more polished movie than the original.
To capitalize on his high profile at the Cannes Film Festival, Kitano is also scheduled to host NTV’s “Obakannu No.1 Eigasai” (“Dumb Cannes: The World’s Stupidest Film Festival”) in which he will take a look at the world’s dumbest viral videos.
Kitano, known for directing and starring in his movies, gave an uncharacteristically hot-blooded performance in “Outrage” alongside Kippei Shiina, 46, and Tomokazu Miura, 58. It premiered at the Cannes Festival where it received mixed reviews from the international press.
Domestically, the film fared no better, being seen by roughly 600,000 people and taking in 750 million yen at the box office.

no plastic squeeky hammers or other tacky toys or trinkets in the "movie?" This guy is a joke.

A Midas, whatever the idiot touches turns to gold. I fail to see the 'talent' in this individual? Kind of like the appeal of Jerry Lewis to the French. The difference being Lewis had some talent.

thepro: "Why do Europeans think this guy is such an artiste?"
Because he makes movies that can be seen in a number of ways: Non-artistic to numbskulls, and artistic with deep meaning to those who can see beyond what's directly projected through the cellulose frames.

I am in wholehearted disagreement with smithinjapan. if you didnt enjoy or at least appreciate 'kikujiro no natsu' you know diddly squat about cinema.
