... the album, entitled "Hell Yes, Let's Cash In" will be performed by studio musicians as the two remaining original members lip-synch from wheelchairs behind the mixing board...

Nesmith has had friction with the bandmates over the years as he grew disgruntled with the band’s overwhelming commercial nature and the artistic control over the group.

Nesmith has always been about "artistic control". Out of the four he was the one who had the least financial concern because his mother was the one who invented white-out. Thus he was always fighting with the managers and producers over what music they should be putting out - he wanting to experiment and the producers wanting them to stick with the "safe" formulaic rock.

There are three remaining original members that performed on this new album (all four members if you count the one song Davy Jones is on). While Nesmith won't be touring, he DID participate in the album.

Can there be a one Monkee reunion?

Well, it is the Year of the Monkee

They had damn well better play Pleasant Valley Sunday!

Even when you watch the series now you can see how Nesmith just looks like a miserable git. Loved their music... safe yes, but it's still good to drive to on the old car CD player.

Not sure about their tour though - Davy Jones' voice was pretty much at the heart of most of their songs.... it would be like a Queen tour without Freddie (which I have always thought was a bad idea).
