Will this be Leonardo's year?

Revenant aside, I can't see how Mad Max would even be considered. It was entertaining, but hardly a great movie. The Martian was even worse - typical cliched Hollywood schlock. I had trouble believing Ridley Scott could direct such garbage. Makes me worry about the Blade Runner sequel.

“The Martian,” about an astronaut stranded on the Red Planet, with seven.

7 what? TV Dinners?

@Shonanbb

In second place was dystopian action film “Mad Max: Fury Road,” with 10 nominations, followed by space blockbuster “The Martian,” about an astronaut stranded on the Red Planet, with seven.

Read the whole paragraph. It's the same grammar as saying Bob has 10 apples. Jack has 5.

Also agree with Commanteer regarding Mad Max. It was a fun movie, and I'm very interested to see how/if sequels play out...but we're talking expendables a guns-n-explosions kinda movie, not exactly thought provoking drama here.

(Again, good movie! Loads of fun, just more of a beer and popcorn flick)

What is it with this Mad Max movie. It was boring, had nothing in caparison to the second movie as far as questing our fossil fuel addiction. Just a blank state of a movie.

I'm glad Mad Max is nominated for so much. That entire movie was basically pure art

eh...too each his own. but I don't get it, Once Upon A Time The West was pure art

Mad Max was great. I rarely watch movies twice within a month or two but Mad Max is an exception. As a non-stop action film it is one of the best ever. Glad the Academy thinks so too!

Mad Max was just pure joy. That's what movies are all about!

Happy that Starwars didnt get more nomitations, I didn't like the movie.

Because not everyone loves the same movies., music, games, media, etc....Don't like it, that's your problem. When a movie is critically acclaimed and very well received then expect it to be recognised. Regardless of your opinion.

It's like saying, hey I didn't like the film, it is overrated. Is shouldn't like it too. Also Fury Road was spectacular. Glad to see it getting some good Oscar recognition. Those kind of movies are usually snubbed.

7 TV dinners sounds better and more implied than nominations. Mad Max was just noise. But, maybe that was the torrent.

Honestly the meta-game of movie is what made it fun for me and I believe can only make the new series so much better- I really really hope they keep dropping hints here and there to connect the current series back to the original. No big reveals or anything, and nothing particularly crucial to the story, but it's a lot of fun to see where things fit together without it being spelled out barney-style.

(Big theory now being that the current Max is in fact the Feral Kid from the original series)
