It's not the US gossip mags that were devastated.

The lawyers were devastated.

Nothing better than a hostile nasty interminable divorce case among celebrities to make one's legal practice famous.

Nah, this is because Katie clearly had this thing planned out for a long time. She fired Tom Cruise's daughter with Nicole Kidman 2 months ago. The daughter worked on Katie's fashion company.

Either Tom and Katie's lawyers had been working on the divorce for at least that long, or Katie ambushed Tom and given the rumors about him, made him an offer he and his Scientologist lawyers could not refuse.

The lawyers get their cut, the gossip mags will have fun chasing the details. Eventually it will come out. And by "come out" I absolutely did not mean to imply anything about any of the principles in this story. Because, you know, he's totally not. Totally.

Well, I for one think it's a jolly good thing.

These divorces can go on for an awful long time.

So, they both have clean break and on to the next step in life.

Don't forget either, that the longer this is in the headlines, the worse it looks for Scientology. Thats another factor that almost certainly motivated the quick settlement.

but everyone knows all about his gayness. what did she have over him? "i'm going to tll them all what they already kno, then you'll see!" and shake a fist? and what deep dark secrets are there to know about scientology anyway? ppl kno about it as group that takes advantage of ppls insecurities to not let them leave, but if there is really bad stuff there, a higher up like the wife of cruise would not necessarily kno how everyday members were treated.

if there is anything scandalous to come out, i want it to come out already!
