Tsunami causes delay to 'Avatar' sequel

Filmmakers have postponed filming of the sequel for James Cameron's "Avatar," due to the March 11 earthquake and tsunami, American media reported Monday.

A portion of the sequel was to be filmed off the southeast coast of Japan, in the ocean's Mariana Trench. The scenes are supposed to depict the aquatic environment of the film's alien planet, Pandora. Due to the possibility of further tsunami activity in the area, the movie's filming schedule was altered.

Come on now, are there no other oceans in the world?

Mariana Trench the deepest, Ya, I know.

I may persuade James Cameron to resume his project .. more visitors and business activities to Japan now. I will do it now.

he is concern about safety, not money-making promotion stints.

I still haven't seen the first Avatar. From the previews I saw on TV and the clips I saw on TV screens in BicCamera, I really don't want to see it. Does anyone here recommend it?

Sarge, if you have a really big screen at home, you might find the CGI impressive - if you like that kind of thing.

bobo - Thanks! I think I'll pass on Avatar.

@Sarge I thought it was one of the best movies I'd seen in years, and I usually watch around 3-4 new movies a week. In the end though it comes down to personal taste. If it gets you you interested even a little bit, give it a try. You might like it more than you expect.

I thought it was one of the best movies I'd seen in years...

I thought Avatar was a step or two above Cameron's other films -- which is saying a lot. It's extremely engrossing and entertaining -- doing exactly what a good movie should do. (And I average watching about a film per day.)

Avatar was average and the new one is not likely to improve on that.

Try Guam or Saipan -the water doesn't glow there
