TV commercial of the week: Aflac

TOKYO —
The Aflac Duck has been a popular figure in TV commercials in Japan for almost a decade. The duck has been used in commercials to promote a variety of insurance policies sold by the U.S. company, which derives the bulk of its revenue from Japan.
In the latest commercial, Sho Sakurai and Aoi Miyazaki play the organ, while a cat plays the tambourine, and the Aflac duck sings “Maneki-neko duck.”
In the aftermath of the March 11 disaster, Aflac Japan suspended television advertising featuring the mascot duck, but he’s now back on the air.

Yeah, he was suspended in Japan because the guy who does the voice in the US made the few repugnant tweets after the quake and tsunami. The classiest can be summed up here:
I feel bad that the Japanese most likely lost income over it as well.

I am visiting Japan and I am seeing these CMs and loving them. At least the Aflac one is better than the Kapersky commercials for anti virus software showing the heads of AKB48 inflating hoping they don't explode. Also don't forget those AKB48 bra ads on the Yamanote Line where there are animated hearts coming from their boobies..
My favorite CM since I have been out here is for the BIG Loto featuring Princess Princess. I want to hug each and everyone of them!!!

Maybe they can round up some of these wild raccoons in Amagasaki and Itami that have been savaging pedestrians. Raccoons need love too. Although some people would no doubt raise hell about foreign species destroying Japan. Personally I say bring back the duck.. Who doesn't like ducks? Never hear about ducks falling out of trees and wilding people do ya? Hello Kitty and Doraemon are more than enough feline for me. Ducks eat worms.. Aflac sounds like some kinda worm/parasite medicine. The cat ain't all it is quacked up to be for mine.
