TV staffer makes hilarious walk-on appearance during live news segment

There’s nothing quite like a good live TV slip-up.

During a live news broadcast on Monday, a member of NHK news team nonchalantly walked into shot, clearly oblivious to the fact that an interview was in progress. To make matters worse, upon realizing she was being watched by millions of viewers expecting to hear about Tokyo’s plans for the Olympic Games, the staff member turned to the camera with a look that can only be described as one of sheer awkward terror, before scurrying off with her hand over her mouth.

Naturally, this young woman instantly became a minor internet celebrity, and GIFs and videos of the blunder appeared online barely minutes later.

No youtube link?

NHK has something of an unspoken "Three strikes and you're transferred to some podunk station in one of the less attractive prefectures!" policy for announcers who slip up--I wonder if it applies to floor staff too?

Interesting use of the word "hilarious".

For NHK it is rare. For another station, it is probably just part of the show.

I like the difference between the serious-I'm-important tied bureaucrat's face and the real life 180.000-a-month girl's expression.

I love it... with so much doom and gloom around it's nice to have something GOOD to talk about around the news.

What we really need, a little humor in life. This is great and I hope it made many people smile or laugh. I loved it!

Great stuff. Wish they'd do this more often and liven up the sometimes boring news!

This should be hilarious, but I suspect that the poor woman will not be laughing noe bit when her superiors get done reprimanding her.

Hope they aren't too hard on her. It was just a stupid mistake, the kind we all make at times, and look how much viewing it has generated as a result!

Looks like she was busily looking at her smartphone when she walked on camera http://en.rocketnews24.com/2013/09/11/tv-staffer-makes-hilarious-walk-on-appearance-during-live-news-segment/

I hope she's forgiven by NHK for the "walk on."

After working in Television for so many years, I've seen it all, just about all at least. Hey, these things will happen eventually, it's really unavoidable. Deadlines, tensions, people running around, it can get seriously hectic on the news floor as well as confusing, depending on the news coverage. It was an honest mistake and IMO the girl should just a "be careful or pay attention" and that's it. You can't be perfect and you should allow and be lenient to people that work in an industry that is already under serious pressure. The woman is human, I'm sure she's sorry. Geez, no one was hurt. No big deal, move on.

She is so fired.

I love how her reaction is perfectly framed in the shot, she realised her mistake at the perfect time (for us).

I think it ad's something to the interview. Probably most viewers were on the verge of nodding off anyway. This was just what the telecast needed. Good job Lady. I bet she'll be promoted to the head office in programing.

I hope they don't fire her over this, what a cutie!
