Mari Yaguchi, right, and Nozomi Tsuji
Monday 11th May, 09:24 AM JST
TOKYO —
Mari Yaguchi, a former member of the all-girl pop group Morning Musume, said she looks forward to getting married one day and having twins. ‘‘I’d like to have twins with a non-Japanese man,’’ Yaguchi, 26, said during a recent event in Tokyo in which she was promoting a new line of hamburgers and doughnuts alongside former Morning Musume star Nozomi Tsuji, 21. ‘‘But I don’t feel any pressure to get married,’’ Yaguchi said.
Tsuji, who is already married and has a daughter, advised Yaguchi to try harder to if she wants to find a husband, saying, ‘‘Otherwise, you could be waiting forever.’’ Mos Food Services Inc, the operator of the Mos Burger chain, and Mister Donut, a confectionary and cafe unit of Duskin Co, developed the new hamburger-looking doughnuts and doughnut-looking hamburgers, under a project called ‘‘Mosdo!’’ A TV commercial in which Yaguchi and Tsuji promote the new treats will start to air Tuesday.

Not quite sure what the focus of the article is. An ex-Morning Musume Idol wants twins from a foreign man barely tied in with a MOS burger campaign.

LOL I bet she wants some cute "half" kids huh? They make such cute little fashion accessories! Never ceases to amaze me how "dense" some Japanese women can be.

She's well on her way to attracting an American man. Burgers and doughnuts are the way to an American's heart!

You know non Japanese means:non Asian or black is excluded."
On so many levels i could blast(non violent blast for you sensitive types) you for a comment like that. but for what. No point in addressing someone who lives a sheltered life. in all fairness i what part of japan u live in to come to a conclusion that black men would be excluded. hmmmm Good enough to be the most powerful man in the world (Obama). But excluded from the fact this woman said she wants to have non japanese twins. No race was indicated, other than non japanese which means it could be Aborignal Man. Jeez 2009 and we still got skin issues. Would love to see folks just stick with proven facts.
Living in Tokyo. I think u should check out the cover of the Metropolis where it speaks about the new face of japan....Trust me its not what u think.

I was expecting the volunteers to be lining up. Funny how so many translators I know marry gaijin who come to work in Japan. There are so many Japanese women who want to get out of the system that it's not funny.
I wonder how she plans on having twins?

wow, who cares.... I have had plenty of girls ask me to introduce them to any foreign friends of mine especially halfs or quarters. But, then isn't that universal, Girls always talk about dating French or British guys or perhaps skipping German guys or vice-versa for whatever reason as well as the generalization of the what type of guy a Swiss, Finish, Swedish guy might be and the same for Asian women who say similar stuff. You can even break it down to regions like Osaka or Hakata guys... guys from NY or Texas...

indeed. seems like a good idea at first if it bags you a babe, but spending the rest of your natural life with someone, and raising kids is about as far as commitment can possibly go. do you really want someone you can't really relate to, or someone who is going to have no way of coping the second your relationship faces its first challenge? i commend the intention, but the road to hell is paved with good intention. pity on anyone who stumbles blindly into a situation like this

you
re shooting the messenger and your response makes no sense whatsoever. you seem not to realise that when girls like this say 'gaijin' they have a pretty specific image in their mind; white, tall, blond-haired, blue-eyed, big nose, big chin, gangly, eternally cheerful, ostensibly american. you see this stereotype pictured everywhere, and it certainly does not include other asians or non-whites. literallygaijin` would apply to any non-japanese but in reality it refers a specific stereotype unless otherwise stated. this is not to say that there aren't girls who are interested in non-caucasians because there quite clearly are, but this is highly unlikely to apply to a girl like this who probably has next to no contact with non-japanese.fact is, for a country with little historical contact with blacks there is inexplicably strong prejudice against them. it's fantastic that obama is on the scene now because it might make a lot of people sit up and realise that a man like him can be an inspirational leader, not just some wannabe thug hanging around in harajuku/shibuya

You're jumping to conclusions Jonnyboy. Majority of blacks in Japan have no problems with racism. Besides, jaystixx's main point was that the only thing we know for sure is that she said non-japanese!
jonnyboy at 10:24 AM JST - 14th May
point is that japan has no historical reason to view blacks any differently from caucasians, yet quite clearly does, and has adopted (negative) american stereotypes, hence why so many nigerians find work in shibuya playing the thug stereotype despite never having been to new york or los angeles. as for the girl, yes all she said non-japanese, but read between the lines. i'd be quite happy to put money on what she specifically has in mind
caribjustice at 01:37 PM JST - 14th May
Nope, the point is that many and most blacks don't have problems with racism in Japan and even if they do it's nothing compared to what they might have experienced elsewhere.
Your concept of a "different view" has to manifest itself in a way that most blacks can say that they are impacted badly based on this view.
The "thug" stereotype is in your own words something Nigerians are "playing". Clearly, its not a problem with Japanese because they are being hired to do it!
Your generalizations are giving the forum your stereotype. Don't project on to her. She spoke for herself. And you are speaking for yourself as well!

Whatever to the comments above, I'd bet a lot of money she was thinking of blue eyed blonds and not africans when she made the comment. No, I'm not racist and what I wrote is not racist.
caribjustice at 01:18 AM JST - 15th May
Whatever to comments above also, And I'd bet money she meant non-japanese
