Uno Kanda announces separation from husband

TOKYO —

Fashion designer and “talent” Uno Kanda, 35, announced Tuesday that she plans to separate from her husband, Takuo Nishimura, 40, and that she has already moved her belongings out of his condo.

Kanda made the announcement after a fashion show in Tokyo for a line of kimono and dresses she designed herself.

Kanda admitted that the pair had been living separately off and on for the past year, and that it was her lifestyle choice. “Just because you’re married doesn’t mean you need to spend every single day under the same roof,” she commented.

However, Kanda said they had no plans to get divorced.

The couple, who married at Meiji Shrine in October 2007, have held six wedding ceremonies since then in places such as Guam, Saipan and Hawaii.

Haha, after they had six different wedding ceremonies? I guess pachinko doesn't pay as well as it used to

    nandakandamanda

Must be a relief for him, poor guy, but give him the divorce woman! Is there no end to your selfishness?

  • 0

    frontandcentre

No points for anyone who saw this coming. She'll have snoopers watching his door and once he gets hooked up with someone else, it'll be divorce courts here I come and a multi-billion settlement...paid in pachinko balls, hopefully.

But if you ask me, he deserves the compensation for putting up with this cringeworthy woman for so long.

Organizing ONE wedding with my wife was enough to almost send me over the edge. This dude had to do it SIX times - with HER. Otsukare-sama!!

  • 0

    hoserfella

I remember all of the weddings they had and how obvious it was that they treated it like sport. I wonder if this twit will have a series of divorce proceedings to celebrate as well.

    Gurukun

Does this mean she will need to get divorced 6 times?

I saw this coming from day one.

Are the life of a talentless nobody who used to be almost famous (well just in J land anyway)! Isn't it both funny and pathetic just how far some talentless Z listers will go to remain in the public spotlight.

    SERIOUSLY WHO CARES?

So, they married in October 2007, held six different wedding ceremonies, and have lived apart for over a year. Simple math says they must have separated virtually at the same time as the last ceremony, since only 18 months or so was between the first one and the separation. But she is right about one thing -- given her attitude, who would possibly want to "spend every single day under the same roof" with her? Talk about torture.

    TSRnow

Their wedding ceremonies weren't just ceremonies. It was a fashion show for her wedding dresses. See how she is described as a "Fashion Designer and talent" now?

    LOL.

This silly cow had six different wedding ceremonies and now getting a divorce. What a waste.

He got out alive, he should count his blessings

  • 0

    nandakandamanda

Er, no, they are not getting a divorce. Without a divorce it is living death for him. No blessings to count.

    Junnama

Anyone could see this one coming a mile away. I don't think this was a marriage, but a business arrangement....

  • 0

    tarento

    Kanda is "Uno" again.

    Kanda is "Uno" again.

Hehe, yes guys she's available. Everyone get in line....

  • 0

    cleo

Funny, on Supamoni this morning they had her stating clearly that they were NOT separating, that the press simply had it in for her and were gasping to be able to report on her divorce.

    And wot timorborder sed.

  • 0

    seesaw

So what's wrong with that? She's happy about it!

  • 0

the golden rule guys is "Dont touch what you can't afford" with this woman.

  • 0

    combinibento

It was one thing for this lady to be a high-maintenance, wedding-dress-obsessed, money-hording biznotch 10 years ago, but for Chrissakes this woman is now 35. It is getting old, hun.

  • 0

    bobbafett

6 wedding ceremonies? what fool would go along with such a thing? oh...I know. Self absorbed, attention seeking, insecure flunkies or in short...narcissists.

  • 0

    kurumazaka

Feel sorry for the dude, but he must have had some idea what he was getting into. The “let's have six weddings“ part surely must have tipped him off as to what kind of person he was hitching up with?

  • 0

    poollymook

It takes two to tango...the are both cows.

  • 0

    This comes as no surprise.

Well know we know, too hilarious!

  • 0

    magpie

he went in with eyes wide open. If you ask me, anybody who was contemplating a relationship with Uno, deserves whatever grief that comes their way...

  • 0

    dolphingirl

Sounds like they spent more time at wedding ceremonies than 'under the same roof'!

  • 0

    blvtzpk

I was eating when I read the headline and, yes, food DID get expelled from my mouth.

I won't say "I saw it coming," but the utter charade of some of these people's lives beggars disbelief.

No, I don't like her and neither does the wife who ABHORS her. ABHORS, I tell you, ABHORS her!!! And now she has even more to abhor her for.

  • 0

    WilliB

" The couple, who married at Meiji Shrine in October 2007, have held six wedding ceremonies since then in places such as Guam, Saipan and Hawaii.
    "

So now we get six divorce ceremonies?

    desmosedici

You people are forgetting that he still has (or had) to propose to this woman regularly.

  • 0

    womanforwomen

blvtzpk, I share her surname and a town too, so everytime i hear that, I think oh no! But please don't ABHOR. Not worth the energy you will spend doing that. Uno Kanda, is one of the many Paris Hiltons here in jland, who lacks self-esteem and is suffering from a congenital lack of self-worth. So no need to react to it. Be patient till these people start living a normal life. I am hopeful that it will happen oneday.

  • 0

    blvtzpk

    @womanforwomen

I don't like her, but it's "mrs b" who does the abhoring, not I.

I wish II hag your faith in such people maturing but unfortunately, this is just more classic fodder for the masses, and they'll eat it up, and the so-called 'talents' will engage in the same attention/publicity-getting behavior, and thus the cycle will continue. I'm sure when the weekly air time rankings are released, this news will be up there with time devoted to the new cabinet and PM. This type of guff is a perfect antidote to those who are overwhelmed by the serious stuff in the world - bread and circuses, as they say.

    blvtzpk

Correction: "I wish I had your faith..."

  • 0

    lemur

“Just because you’re married doesn’t mean you need to spend every single day under the same roof,” she commented.

LOL. Even after six wedding ceremonies, this woman still doesn't understand the concept of commitment.

But seriously, I'd like to know the quote in Japanese so I can add a curveball to my next fight with the wife (of 14 years) :-)

  • 0

    DenDon

    I loathe this awful woman

  • 0

    jtuzr

Knowing what kind of person she is, I'd say it was her husband's idea.

  • 0

    sf2k

who cares? Why announce this? And why on earth report it? Ooo Look! Shiny Thing! It's just standard media distraction.

  • 0

    Patrick Smash

6 weddings? At what stage did they get to consummate then?

  • 0

    Debucho

cant wait to see Uno's "Divorce Dress" fashion show next

  • 0

    noirgaijin

October 2007, that's two years longer than I betted on it lasting. Must have sucked him dry on those six weddings and dealing with her high maintenance ego.

  • 0

    bicultural

timorborder, I guess you don't know that she's very successful as as designer? She makes more money than her husband.

  • 0

    DenDon

    balderdash

  • 0

    noirgaijin

Concur with DenDon, the pachinko money making machine is perpetual. Celebrity designer clothes are a fad and eventual the designer's popularity fades.

  • 0

    kurumazaka

Very true, Noirgaijin. Especially problematic is her focus on wedding dresses. What dreamy eyed soon-to-be-wed wants a dress designed by someone who so blatantly tarnishes the institution of marriage?

  • 0

    presto345

6 wedding ceremonies. Now that's what I call overkill. I guess the 'talent' (what talent exactly?)was more focused on the show, the extravagance and hype of the ceremonies than getting married.

  • 0

    womanforwomen

    6 wedding ceremonies

Smart business woman. She did not pay the male model 6 times for her wedding gown display shows. What is wrong with that man?

  • 0

    genkimark

Hopefully, they consummated the wedding all 6 times, lol...

  • 0

    Ayesha

Sounds like it's time for them to have their next wedding ceremony!

  • 0

    goosefraba

OMG they're not divorcing but just "separating". It's like the new Sex and the City movie!
