Uno Kanda launches brand under husband’s watchful eye.

Entertainer Uno Kanda has launched her own original “Uno Kanda” brand of handbags and leather goods. With her husband Takuro watching from the wings, Kanda told the launch party, “My private life is quite complete, thank you—don’t worry about me. My darling and I are rapturously in love.”

Regarding maternity plans, she said coyly, “That’s up to the stork, and so far I haven’t seen him flying around here.”

Dancer? yeah, right. I've been here since the mid-90s and not seen her dance once. Look, I hold a state record from high school track days, but it isn't on my resume. Ancient history.

Accomplished businesswoman? Come on. She doesn't handle any of the business side. Her business skills must be even less used than her dancing skills. She is the figurehead and maybe gives some design or image input, but the usual team of "real" businesspeople handles it. And the reason they chose this vapid doll of a woman is the same reason you remember her name: THOSE LEGS. Get it? Yeah.

There was a show where they tried to portray her as a decisive, idiosyncratic designer businessperson ordering around a harried, obedient staff that eagerly wrote down every word on pads of paper, then scurried off into frantic action and held late meetings while Uno was at posh dinners, and this is what led to millions in sales. The whole thing was shown, their workday from early morning to late night, yet surprisingly, none of the people seemed to notice the 3-4 cameras, boom mikes and large TV crew that was in the intimate conference room for this spontaneous revelation. Gee. I wonder if it was scripted and edited? No. Couldn't be. TV would never show us anything like THAT, would they?

As for her clothes and look--yuck. She used to be cute, but now she can't accept that she isn't 17 years old. She needs to get out of the cotton puff kitty thing and try acting and dressing like a mature woman. She looks much older than she is, and somehow, pathetic, when she dresses like this. And what unfortunate plastic surgery--she should have waited until she was actually, you know, OLD, before pinning back her skin so tightly. It looks sandblasted. Why would she do this? Only one explanation, she is a paranoid mess and can't stand the thought of growing old (to her, over 22).

Well, at least she made sure she has money. I hope she is as savvy at getting lucrative divorces as some say she has been at business.

Been in J-tainment for 22 years and I can tell you that she's just like any other J-tainer who's screwed her way to good fortune. Having met and talked with her, I can tell you that her "bitchyness" is NOT an act. She's a real bitch and I don't much like her.

She has gotten by on her nice legs and good looks like rather than talent, so mentioning her ballet skills when talking about her is a waste of time, because that is NOT what has made her successful.
