A true legend of Hollywood--one of the most visible movie stars during its golden age, especially in the Andy Hardy movies he co-starred with Judy Garland. Despite living such a long life, he will be sorely missed.

RIP. At least he lived to a pretty good age.

What an amazing life. Still there is always his character I.Y. Yunioshi from "Breakfast at Tiffany's." A comparison of reviews contemporary and modern show how time has changed, and for the better:

The 1961 New York Times review of the film said that "Mickey Rooney's bucktoothed, myopic Japanese is broadly exotic." In 1993, the Los Angeles Daily News wrote that the role "would have been an offensive stereotype even played by an Asian; the casting of Mickey Rooney added insult to injury".

I loved the Andy Hardy movies. His girlfriend in the series, Polly Benedict (Ann Rutherford), also passed away this past year.

Farewell to a wonderful actor. I, too, loved the Andy Hardy movies.

Great actor and once again another great actor leaves us, I was a big fan of Mikey Rooney and the man was a class act and sadly, they just don't make them like that anymore. He had a long life and a long career. He was really blessed to have lived so long. At least we will always have his films to look back on. Hats on to you, Mr. Rooney.

RIP
