Wacoal signs up Hamasaki for underwear ads in Asian market

TOKYO —

Lingerie maker Wacoal has signed up singer Ayumi Hamasaki, 29, for its lingerie advertising campaign in the Asian market. According to Wacoal, photos of Hamasaki in Wacoal underwear will be used for advertisements in China, South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Vietnam from the end of July. The ads will not be used in Japan, the company said.

A spokesperson for Wacoal said, “Ms Hamasaki has the highest profile in Asia and is supported by females fans in their 20s who are our target consumers.” The company is expecting a synergy effect from the ads with her Asian tour in Hong Kong, Shanghai and Taiwan from Sept 20.

Photos were taken by Mika Noguchi who is president of lingerie maker Peach John and Hamasaki’s close friend.

I think Ayumi Hamasaki looks quite Asian. And she certainly looks good enough to model underwear. The photo above is both tasteful and seductive. And it doesn't conern me anyway since I don't buy women's underwear.

what ever strikes your fancy, it's not like other pretty girls in Europe or America haven't done this type shot; especially Victoria Secrets. In addition, there is lots of lasering going on. It's not realistically them in the end.

Someone who has large bug eyes like she has does not look Asian. I've never come across any East Asian with naturally blond hair either, and yet, more often that not, she's got that awful cheap looking kinpatsu.

There are plenty of other fine women. Why her? Not exactly a fine role model - you can't look right unless you go under the surgeon's knife - that's the message she's sending out. And the fact that she can't sing isn't exactly doing her any favours.

I've seen Asians with large eyes. And medium eyes. And small eyes. Some slanted upwards some slanted downwards. Thanks for clueing me in that all all Asians are suppose to look exactly the same.

As for the dying hair thing, just how many people walking around the streets of NY or LA do you think have "naturally blonde hair"? Maybe in Minnesota or Sweden or something.

Look at her earlier albums and pics from years ago - No on can change so radically without a bit of help - she's had a facial (nay, farcical) surgery. I'm surprised no one mentioned it! She's trying to look like Madonna did 20 (err... 30) years ago. Whatever happened she's still a looker.

Don't wanna nitpick- but "Human" is the correct term. "Humanoid" means "Human-like".
