Olympus Has Fallen - A movie I know I'll never watch.

I'll watch, it sounds very entertaining. I bet Kim Jong Un will want a DVD copy.

Why not seized by the Skull and Bones, and the Illuminati?

Perhaps we shouldn't give them ideas.

Hollywood shouldn't be giving Kim Jong Un any ideas. The North Koreans might just be crazy enough to kidnap a president, although it's more likely they'll go after the South Korean president rather than Obama.

Maybe after the movie, the American public, it's it a huge hit, will ask the Pentagon for a pre-emptive strike. Considering how erratic and crazy the North Korean govt are behaving, it might make sense.

I thought they made a movie about the Greek economy before I read the article.

In keeping with Kim Jong Uns' character, he'll download a hacked screener copy off Pirate Bay.

No doubt Kim Jong Un has already seen it in his private movie theatre.

Seriously, what would be the point of North Koreans seizing the White House? It would mean the immediate end of the North Korean government and military.

It is just like the move "Red Dawn". Originally, Chinese take over the US. But in post production, the Chinese were changed to North Koreans. That is so they can play the movie in the Chinese market. Same here. They want to play in China, so from now, the enemy will always be North Korea. But really, how low does the US have to fall to be invaded by N. Korea? Is the US just announcing that it is giving up? It is over? Well, maybe it is. One thing for sure, N. Korea could not cause nearly the amount of damage to the world as the US has caused with its financial catastrophy of 2007. It is still working its way out in Europe. Someone should make a movie about that.

so funny- at first i thought this was a movie that Kim had produced in North Korea!

sounds like something they would do....

Nothing wrong with changing it up a bit. I am kind of tired of the usual Arab or alien terrorist song and dance.

One problem is that N. Korea is a client state of China. So the Chinese will take this as an indirect criticism of China. You know, in this part of the world, indirect criticism is an art form.

Seriously, what would be the point of North Koreans seizing the White House?

Because you see the point in anything they are actually doing ?

so funny- at first i thought this was a movie that Kim had produced in North Korea!

Me too... And as old Kim had the habit of kidnapping actors from the South to make them play in NK movies, my next thought was : Yeah, Lil' Kim, abduct us a few of those Hollywood egos on paws... Tarentino... Christian Bale... Gwyneth... and don't forget Jackie Chan, he loves dictatures.... What are your wish lists of celebs to send to Pyongyang ?

In NK, the movie would run half as long as it does in the US. Spoiler: it ends when the NKs win the Whitehouse.

Correction Gokai-san, N. Korea is China's lap dog.

(I hope the events in the movie won't become a reality. D:)

I head the North Koreans redid the movie in China and they got away with the kidnapping of Obama in exchange for more comics for Kim Jung Un to study about the west.

Gerard Butler? America's favourite Scotsman in an action thriller about NK terrorists seizing the White House... sounds... pants! I'll give that a pass, ta muchly.

Sounds like more fear generating propoganda ala 'Red Dwan' .... perhaps they should have called it 'Red Yawn'.

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

gokai: It's not like Red Dawn at all.

"Hollywood shouldn't be giving Kim Jong Un any ideas."

To those who think Hollywood is giving ideas to a military state, I suggest you think again. If Hollywood came up with it, the enemies of the US already thought of it ages ago -- hence it's a MOVIE, fantasy, and not reality.

Well this looks stupid. Exactly why do the North Koreans hole up in the White House instead of whisking the President off to North Korea instead? I know it's an action thriller dreamt up by lunatics with more knuckles than brain cells, but still, can we at least have higher plot standards?

I might make a drinking game out of it actually:

Take a drink for every pornographic shot of US military hardware. Every crass ethnic stereotype of Asians bandied about. Double if they get the wrong nationality. Any time someone says something like "because they hate our freedom, man!" Every time the US flag waves around. Every teary scene where one of the 'good guys' dies. Every rousing speech or American cliche. Every instance of the Stormtrooper Effect - i.e. the baddies being ludicrously terrible shots, while the goodies pick them off with ease. Every plot hole.

By this point they're so formulaic you could knock out an American action thriller screenplay with a simple algorithm.

I saw it yesterday. After 9/11, it was too soon.

Personally, however, I see it as a propaganda film preparing us in the US to endure more devastation on our own shores because we have no choice, since that is a decision made by NK or China. We have to prepare ourselves mentally for such a contingency in order to ensure that we can defeat any such aggression. Yeah, I don't like the message; but the way China is behaving using its proxy NK to bully the world makes me understand that war may be inevitable.

However, I'm also very pleased at how our own strategists are able to devise such an overwhelmingly simple war scenario that could be applied against North Korea and China and lay waste to them without our losing much of anything. Have they the vision to see such a complex strategem? Apparently, we have; and we just showed them that we can think out of the box.

It's not just a movie. It's a warning to North Korea and China to mind their manners.

No less ridiculous than N. Korea's 3-day war plan. I saw today that on day two N. Korean paratroops would drop into Seoul from helicopters. That one made me laugh out loud. Certainly they would be turned into flaming balls of dead men by the South' CAP.

One would hope that this is purely for domestic consumption and that they don't actually believe what they say.

Also love the photo of fat-boy demonstrating small arms technique to his senior generals. I never knew that they could have such a wet sense of humor.

Sounds totally stupid. The days of the best action movies (Die Hard, early Arnie and Seagal) are long gone. Just this recycled pap now.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

I'm pretty interested. I find it highly unlikely that this could ever happen, but it looks like a good action film, no matter who was the enemy

Maybe this whole Dust-Up between Kim Chee-Hee & the West is because he's not in the movie, not even as an extra & that's No Way to treat an EmperorGeneralDemi-God and all around nice fellow! I'll wait for the Broadway Opening!
