Korean dramas are generally more upbeat compared to the dread and self inflicting pain of Japan's media. They feed off depression like it's candy. Winter Sonata is a classic, and will remain for decades. Plus the Winter Sonata pachinko machines are fun...Oh wait.

I never understood people's infatuation with this drama. I found it slow paced and painfullly dull. Maybe it's because I'm not a romantic...

Some people have too much time and money. Luckily, there is always some clever entrepreneur to divest them of both.

I think Winter Sonata was a beautiful drama, with great music and scenery, I enjoyed watching it because of its artfulness.

Maybe it`s also because you are not Japanese, in your forties, single and desperately lonely (I presume!)
