Wow that was a big jump from the previous bid announced on the news. And WHAT!?!? They are suspending the bidding? That's not fair! I wanted to bid TEN billion yen for that piano!

anybody with 6 billion yen to donate is not going to negate its tax-free status by receiving a crappy piano. it is a dummy bid. move on.

That bid is just somebody fooling around. Probably a high school kid.

Fake bid, 6 billion yen? Seriously? It's fake who is going to donate 70 million dollars? They should have pre-screened bidders.

Something is worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it.

Yahoo Japan Co has not validated the bidders' credibility and identities in advance like eBay has done over its clients. For the final bid of 6 billion Yen, or nearly US$73 million, it is really a serious contribution to Japan.

MYRB2011; eBay also does not validate bidders credibility, they accept fake details from users.

There is a possibility - I admit a small one - that a super-wealthy American X-Japan fan has snapped up the piano. I hope it's true - that cash would be a real shot in the arm for the Tohoku relief campaign.
