Yonekura to star in Japanese stage version of musical 'Chicago'

TOKYO —

The popular American musical “Chicago” will be staged in Japanese at Akasaka ACT Theater in Tokyo from Oct 8 to Nov 2, with actress Ryoko Yonekura, 32, in the role of Roxie Hart.

The story takes place in Chicago where nightclub dancer Velma Kelly (Yoka Wao, 30) kills her secret lover and becomes famous through media coverage orchestrated by her lawyer Billy Flynn (Ryuichi Kawamura, 38).
