Your vote will decide which Ghibli film will be shown on the big screen in Japan

An online ballot is currently open for fans to decide which Studio Ghibli film will be played in cinemas around Japan. You can have your say now and influence which film will take out the number one spot.

You can cast your vote here by completing the online voting form with 4 simple steps:

  1. Firstly select your sex (性別): male (男性) or female (女性).

  2. Then select age your age range (年齢), e.g. 10歳~19歳 (10-years-old to 19-years-old).

  3. Then your favorite Ghibli movie (スクリーンでご覧になりたい作品) that you would like to see played in cinemas.

  4. Then click on Vote! (投票する!).

There are 21 movies to choose from:

Voting will end at 23:59 p.m. on Aug 28 and the movie with the most votes will be screened at five cinemas around Japan from Saturday, Sept 10 to Friday, Sept 16: Sapporo Cinema Frontier, TOHO Cinemas Roppongi Hills, TOHO Cinemas Nagoya Bay City, TOHO Cinemas Umeda (Osaka), TOHO Cinemas Tenjin (Fukuoka).

I appreciate what they're doing, but it's only going to play at 5 cinemas across the entire country, right? Why not tie it in to their museum and collaborate with a local cinema to play several movies over the course of a month or so?

If I were going to the museum it would be quite fitting to end the day watching one of their best flicks on the big screen.

Difficult choose my favourites were castle in the sky, my neighbour totoro, ponyo and spirited away but if i had to choose the ine that cloest to my heart it would be castle in the sky.
