Yuming and Kurumi mix it up with Gap

TOKYO —
Singer Yumi Matsutoya, 55, and rock duo Kurumi were on hand this week to help clothing retailer Gap with its GAP 40th Holiday Campaign. Matsutoya, popularly known as Yuming, and Kurumi announced their first collaboration song, “Shatsu wo Araeba” (If you wash your shirt).
“Taking care of your favorite shirt, washing it carefully, and being able to wear it for a long time is far more of a luxury than wearing a high-end shirt,” said Yuming. “This song is about peace and ecology.”
The holiday promotion will run through Nov 10, and all customers who purchase goods worth 4,000 yen or more will receive a complimentary copy of the song.

I totally agree. You don't want to be saying "Watashi no shatsu wa kowareru"
I've never understood the appeal of Gap - boring, stodgy, mid-priced clothes. Any Americans care to explain?

Gap clothes are oversized and useless, but they used to be better in the 90s and I guess basics like undershirts or socks are still buyable. Uniqlo will slowly push them down and out of the market, as their clothing is twice as cheap and higher quality. There are too better and more fashionable stores for Gap to have any reason to exist in Japan.
