Yoyogi Park event space will play host to the first ever ‘Eurofest’ - A European festival featuring organizations, entertainment, food, drinks and products from the continent. The event promises to be the biggest of it’s kind in Japan and is free to attend. European food lovers will be in heaven with stalls representing France, Italy, Spain, Germany, England, Turkey, Greece, Bulgaria and many other nationalities besides. If you like beer then you will also be at home, as there are plans for a beer garden area with 16 different types of brew available! Along with popular German and Belgian brands, there will also be ales from Italy, England, Scotland, Wales and Turkey. For a more varied cultural experience, the French Institute, German Institute (Goethe Institut), Irish Network Japan and Lithuanian Embassy will all have booths promoting their respective countries. There is also a fantastic list of performers, from French chanson, European jazz, Swedish folk - everything from yodeling to Irish rock - that will offer something for young and old, families and single visitors alike. A further note on the entertainment: There will be a Spanish trio to go along with the paella and sangria, German yodeling and alphorn music to accompany the Weiss bier, cider to go with the English Rock and plenty of Belgian craft ale or fine Italian birra to enjoy alongside the Jazz performances. Let’s not forget the dancing either! There will be shows from Sweden, Ireland, Scotland, as well as flamenco and Turkish belly dancing. If you like to get your own moves on then there will be a dance floor where hot DJs from Europe will be working the crowd. Later in the evening, the Eurofest will feature some of the most accomplished European musicians playing in Japan, folks usually found playing on Japan TV, radio, at hotels, or in other exclusive events. It will be rare chance to see them all come together at one place and one time. All-in-all this is set to be the must attend festival of summer 2014!

Pretty fun to check out the many events held in Yoyogi. For St. Paddy's Day fest I was paying something like ¥800 for Guinness & British Ales, kinda' overpriced. Sometimes the food is pretty good, other times its not. Long lines too.

We'll see if they'll be serving up "carne asada", "tacos" and other mex favorites for the Cinco de Mayo event next Sunday & Monday in Yoyogi. Get your Coronas & lime ready.
