Five years on from the Great East Japan Earthquake which killed 15,893 people, the nightmare remains for those who live on. The disaster in Fukushima and surrounding areas resulted in more than 200,000 victims having to leave their homes, and many are still living in temporary accommodation.
Médecins du Monde has been on the ground supporting local communities immediately after the earthquake, and is one of the few aid agencies remaining there today - but still needs to do more.
March 11 will mark the five-year anniversary of the tragedy and Médecins du Monde is hosting a special fundraising evening in Toranomon, at the Andaz Tokyo Hotel. There will be a classical music concert by the renowned French tenor vocalist Matthieu Sachot and Japanese pianist Naho Sogawa. The concert will be followed by cocktails and canapes, plus, a chance to meet some of the amazing volunteers who have been working in the field helping those in greatest need.
Date: March 11 Time: 7 p.m. Location: Tokyo Studio, 51st Fl, Andaz Tokyo Hotel, 1-23-4, Toranomon, Minato-Ku, Tickets: 10,000 yen per person (additional donations are welcome) For reservations, e-mail info@mdm.or.jp or call 03-3585-6436 before Feb 26. Confirmation will be sent when payment has been authorised.

Hat's off to Médecins du Monde for doing what should be one of the current govt's top priority, so many are still in need.

That's more than this useless government and PM ever did for these people.

Pretty sad that an international organization has to help people that its own country gave up on
