Sep. 18, 2014 - Sep. 29, 2014

On Sept 27, head out to Tokyo’s Haneda Airport in Ota Ward to experience a unique Japanese festival featuring all kinds of cultural events. It’s a great way to discover a cool side to Japan.

You’ll have the chance to see ninja in action, meet geisha, watch locals carrying mikoshi (portable shrines), be thrilled by a taiko drum performance, observe traditional Japanese dances and many more activities.

There will also be guided walking tours around Haneda Airport conducted in English, Chinese, Korean and Thai. The tour will include three bridges across the Ebitori river, Otorii (the gateway at the entrance to a Shinto shrine) and Anamori Inari Shrine. See the contrast between the nostalgic Japan and the modern airport.

Don’t miss the World Food Court which will have mobile restaurants offering various world foods.

At an open-air terrace, you can enjoy dishes made from fresh vegetables delivered from various places in Japan. You can buy them at the site, as well.

And, of course, since this is Haneda Airport, aviation fans have plenty to see and do – there will be a plane and helicopter display. Children can line up for an opportunity to sit in a helicopter cockpit.

To take part in the walking tours, contact the Tourism & Internationalization Department, Ota City office by calling 03-5744-1322 or email kanko@city.ota.tokyo.jp
