Traditional Japanese music instruments are back in style. Yuko Nakamura, director of NY Power House, has announced the launch of “Otozawa: Journey into the Beats of Japan.” This new project will feature outstanding Japanese musicians, performers and cuisine that will deliver a blend of the traditional and the modern at Roppongi CLAPS.

Two leading Japanese traditional music giants, Dozan Fujiwara and Yoshihiro Isso, will join the project as the general music directors.

Fujiwara is a world-famous shakuhachi player who has helped the recent rise in interest of traditional Japanese music. Isso is a renowned wooden flute player who carries on the 400-year-old family tradition of the Nohgaku Theater.

The project will make for an unforgettable live music experience that appeals to lovers of all music. Even foreign visitors will thoroughly enjoy this modern yet classic take on Japanese music performance unlikely to be heard anywhere else.

Further, at each performance, a bilingual navigator will travel with you on your Journey into the Beats of Japan. This cultural bridge will enhance your experience and deepen your knowledge about the music, performers, culture, and instruments.
