"Star Wars" fans in Tokyo, unite!
The operator of Tokyo Skytree, Tobu Tower Skytree, has started a special event, in celebration of the highly anticipated science fiction movie "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," which opens in Japan on Dec 18.
The event, called “Star Wars Tokyo Sky Walk at Tokyo Skytree," began on Nov 18 and runs through Feb 11 next year. It features a photo spot dedicated to “Stormtroopers,” a life-size cutout of all characters appearing in the new movie, a special “lightsaber” corner for photo enthusiasts, and last but not least, an exhibition of the history of the franchise set up in Tokyo Skytree’s 450-meter-high observatory.
Fans will also have the chance to view a special video for the upcoming movie and purchase unique goods, including cups, T-shirts, towels and other special items, all coming in “dark side” and “light side” variations.
Tokyo Skytree will itself turn into a "Star Wars" symbol with a special four-day limited light-up event coming in from Dec 17, a day before the movie's official release. The tower will be illuminated in red and blue, representing “light and darkness war” and in red imitating the “awakening of Lightsaber.”
