The cinema concert of the 1997 blockbuster film "Titanic" will be performed in Japan for the first time in April.

The Kansai Philharmonic Orchestra will perform the concert at Osaka Festival Hall on April 5 and 6, and the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra will perform the concert at Tokyo International Forum on April 10 -- the 104th anniversary of the famous ship's departure from Southampton port.

"Titanic," directed by James Cameron and starring by Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet, became a worldwide phenomenon. It had its world premiere in Japan at the Tokyo International Film Festival in 1997 and went on to win 11 Academy Awards. It was the highest grossing film of all time with $2.19 billion in global earnings until Cameron's "Avatar" beat it with $2.79 billion.

The cinema concert is an event that shows the movie in high definition to the accompaniment of a live orchestra.

The "Titanic" cinema concert has played to over 150,000 people in 12 cities in nine European countries since the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra premiered it at Royal Albert Hall in London last April.

Tickets for the Japan concerts cost 9,800 yen for S seats and 7,800 yen for A seats.
