Portable spine-chiller

Portable spine-chiller

People in Japan have been using portable body warmers for centuries to brave the winter cold, but it’s taken a while for someone to come up with a viable summer equivalent. The Ice Ruck does, well, exactly what you’d expect something with a name like that to do.

This compact backpack, available in three sizes and a variety of colors, conceals a couple of reusable ice packs that should keep you cool for three or four hours at a time. The mesh fabric also ensures that your clothes won’t end up getting soaked while you’re wearing it.

Ice Ruck, 4,800 yen. Available at branches of Tokyu Hands.

    And here I thought it was going to be collected works of famous horror and gothic novels all in one book or something, haha.

    He's wearing a dress shirt, so is this targeting salarymen? And do the manufacturers expect them to wear this under a suit?

    But you need a freezer for the ice packs which isn't convenient when travelling. I recently got the water cooling belt, all you need to do is dip in water for 10 minutes and it stays cool for 24 hrs. It really works great and I am glad to have it. http://en.item.rakuten.com/trendone/10024397/

    I got a better idea.... drink ice cold water in public.

    Drink water and how about having Air condition-airs... Air-condition. 28? What's the point. Buses, Taxis, Stores, 100 lights per square meter in the office, and people worry about a few yen in air conditioning? Crazy. Like my friends say... "Japanese live in their own little world."

    Drink loads of water, stay inside during the middle of the day unless absolutely necessary, and don't wear a suit;

    Why the Japanese wear suits in summer is beyond me (well, it is not beyond me; we all know they are just aping the west)...

    "available in three sizes"

    Small, medium and large? Oh well, non-Japanese adults are out of luck.
