Singapore Airlines will commences operating Airbus A380 aircraft on the Tokyo–Los Angeles route from March 27.
The A380s are unique in offering Singapore Airlines Suites, private cabins in the sky providing the ultimate in luxury and privacy. Each suite features a stand-alone bed, entirely separate from the seat, and is designed so that two adjacent suites can be conjoined to create a full-flat double-sized bed. Business class customers, meanwhile, can enjoy a 34-inch wide seat, the widest in its class, each of which has direct aisle access and can be converted into a fully-flat bed topped with a feather duvet.
Commemorating the deployment, the airline is offering special round-trip business class fares from Narita to Los Angeles starting from 250,000 yen, and Narita and Singapore from 198,000 yen. Including fuel surcharges, insurance premiums and airport facility charges, these fares amount to 273,320 yen and 218,380 yen respectively. Departures must occur after March 27 for a limited period. These complement previously-announced economy class offers starting from 38,000 yen from Narita to Los Angeles and 25,000 yen from Narita to Singapore (61,320 yen and 45,380 yen respectively, including taxes and other charges).
All customers, regardless of the class of travel, can enjoy gourmet cuisine created by world-renowned chefs on Singapore Airlines’ International Culinary Panel, including Yoshiro Murata from the renowned Kikunoi restaurant that specializes in traditional Kyoto cuisine. All seats also feature KrisWorld, Singapore Airlines’ award-winning personal in-flight entertainment system, which offers over 1,000 on-demand entertainment options.

LA-Narita routes flying both Japanese and foreign passengers, Japanese cuisines are healthy and delicious.
Business class from 273,320 yen and 218,380 yen , and economic class from 61,320 yen and 45,380 yen respectively for two routes - LA-Narita and Singapore-Narita can catch the beats of people's pockets.

Very old news JT - You need to do better than this. Is the 'advertising' strictly necessary in the 'comments' column? Surely that should be removed moderator. However, I will be taking this service to LA Golden Week. Best seat on the route by a long way now.

always prefer to fly this airline going back about 10 yrs now, switched my miles to Krisflyer, as well. Strangely, it can often be the cheapest ticket making it excellent value for money.

Yes, I have too Ultradude. The base 250k business class fare to LAX has been around for years during off-peak times (wrong fare!). I'm really pleased that they are continuing it with the change of plane and the big upgrade in seating.

Economy class, where most people sit: 312 on the lower deck, along with 12 first class "beds", with 88 on the upper deck, along with 60 business class. 18.5" wide and a seat pitch of 32". (Data from seatplans.com)
Unless you are small, or pay a premium, you face a squeeze in economy class, but at least in Changi, you can get off the plane quickly.

@sarge, These are long haul flights, especially the NRT-LAX-NRT leg. As a example business class fare it is in fact VERY reasonable compared to other fares on comparable flights elsewhere in the world. This is nothing to do with being rich, merely a comment by nisegaijin which is true.

I agree these fares are reasonably good, given the comfort inside the A380 and also the fact that it's a brand-new machine. It will be interesting to watch (and to travel) when Skymark launches their own A380s from 2014 on, as they are promising their fares will be at least 30% cheaper than the ones practiced now by other J-airlines.

@LostinNagoya: The fare was good for the LAX route anyway, regardless of whether it was an A380 or not. Now it's just even better. Good luck to Skymark, I very much doubt if their A380 plan will get off the ground. Even if does, if it actually flies in 2014 I'll buy you a ticket. That's a promise.
