If it's real sheepskin, then NO it definitely won't itch. It's not the same as the wool you get from yarn, etc. Very soft and comfortable.

Wouldn't this be too hot in the summer? Is there something about it being wool that makes it good or convenient somehow? Is it really wool?

Interesting. I don't know much about sheep skin. If that is the case, they should probably call it a 'sheep skin wrist rest' rather than wool as wool sounds like it would itch.
