YOKOHAMA —

Famed Australian restaurant founder Bill Granger will open his third restaurant in Japan, at Odaiba, on July 16. Granger, who is said to make the best breakfast in the world, opened his first “bills” restaurant in Japan at Shichigahama, Kanagawa, in March 2007, and a second one in Yokohama in 2010.

So far, more than 630,000 diners have visited the two “bills” restaurants.

The new “bills” in Odaiba includes a special menu for kids, considering the location which attracts lots of families for leisure. Of course, adults can enjoy the all-day dining menu, too. You can choose one from four menus which are chicken schnitzel with garlic mashed potato, cherry tomato and ricotta and spinach spaghetti with parmesan cheese, Japanese beef hamburger with original pickled zucchini and tomato relish and herb french fries, or grilled salmon with mashed potatoes, beans and roasted tomato. They all come in small sizes for kids.

For dessert, you can choose from four menus which are “bills” original ice cream with chocolate and honey comb sprinkle, ice cream with strawberry sauce and fresh strawberry, ricotta pancake with fresh banana and honey comb butter, or fresh fruit jelly.

The story behind the kids menu is that Granger thinks it is very important for kids to experience eating new food and enjoy doing so. He wants them to enjoy their meals in the same situation with adults. Bill, himself, is the father of three daughters, and says he understands what parents want. The restaurant prepares coloring books and coloring-in pencils so that kids can have something to do while waiting for their food.

The kids’ menu is only available for children under 10.

The new restaurant is located at Decks Tokyo Beach, Seaside Mall 3F in Odaiba.

The menu looks yummy. But Decks is always too crowded on weekends. I can never get into a restaurant without waiting for a long time.

Nice to see kids menus that don't involve "chicken" nuggets and french fries. But I picture a lot of sad-looking kids trying to figure out how to enjoy their coloring books when they're only given pencils!

They must have lowered the rent in the building since the brand mall opened over there

Place was terrible. Once the office lady crowd finishes lining up it has to close. The hamburgers were smaller than McDonalds. Unbelievable. I was very disappointed as was my partner, and to think we had to wait for a table. Beach across the street was nice though.
