The Hmong farmers who now live in California are offering bittermelon (Also known as Goya in Japan) and these wonderful veggies are very beneficial to diabetics as they virtually cure glucose problems. Sliced and fried in Virgin coconut oil, bittermelon is the highlight of my breakfast.

Phak khana is just komatsuna, isn't it? That is commonplace in Japan. Occasionally, we can find kushinsai, pak boong, in supermarkets.

But, yes, there are sometimes good finds in farmers markets these days.
