Japanese like to pride themselves on being gourmets, but they miss out on so much because such things as proper cider, Ratafia, etc, are so difficult to track down in Japan. I can't help but feel that if they had the chance to try the above, they'd love them

I was one of those teenagers skulking in parks in the 90s looking for a cheap alcohol hit. Cider fitted the bill perfectly, but the very thought of it sets my teeth on edge now. Funny how your tastes change over the years from sweet and fizzy through to dry and smooth.

Perhaps we should start importing this cider to Japan every year and flogging it at 3000 yen a bottle as "cidre nouveau"?!
