Grand Hyatt Tokyo opens outside terrace at sushi restaurant
TOKYO —
The Grand Hyatt Tokyo in Roppongi Hills has opened an outside terrace seating area at its sushi restaurant Roku Roku. This feature makes Grand Hyatt Tokyo the first luxury hotel in Tokyo to have a sushi restaurant with outdoor terrace seating, reminiscent of the Edo period when sushi was served at an outdoor food stall.
The terrace seating is located on the sixth floor, outside Roku Roku. There are two tables, one with six seats and the other with eight seats, which are carved from komatsu stone from Manazuru city of Kanagawa Prefecture. Komatsu stones are created from volcanic
magma from an eruption that occurred about 400,000 years ago. They are solid, have high durability and are fire resistant, and they are among the most fine quality stones of their kind. Years of aging of the stones bring subtle changes for a rich and attractive look.
The terrace seating area will offer sushi and Japanese dishes encompassing a contemporary flare of seasonal cuisine such as Lobster Caesar’s Salad, Sake Lees Dip with Vegetables and Special Terrace Futomaki Sushi. Lightly grilled dishes will also be available à la carte.
As an opening promotion for the month of August, a bottle of premium champagne, a 55,000 yen bottle of Cristal will be available for only 20,000 yen to guests who book a seat on the terrace. Also, guests who are dressed in yukata will receive a complimentary glass of champagne and a sparkling firework, a summer season tradition.
Hotel General Manager Christophe Lorvo comments, “It is a great pleasure to offer a new Roku Roku experience with a unique outside terrace for our guests. The new terrace seating is sophisticated, inviting and unique for our guests. Offering authentic hospitality, Grand Hyatt Tokyo will continue to provide innovative products and services for our discerning guests.”
