That's slightly overpriced.I guess I will be starting to teach kids how to mix syrup with mineral water too for half the price.

I'm sure mums could do their own reasearch and come up with similar activities for their children at home.Mums could arrange these att coffee mornings and take turns doing something once a week at each otehrs houses. The children feel better if in theri usual surroundings and are less likely to become upset and misbehave, I am rather concerned that this is only for well off families.

@Foxie - I have got to agree. Also I learnt my table manners and how to seat a formal dinner party by experience when my parents hosted them. I'm actually shocked at how infrequently the Japanese invite people over to their houses. I know it's a cultural thing, but over the years I've collected some amazing pieces of lacquerwork (lovely serving platters, etc), and I just love organising the occassional dinner party as an exuse to use them (they're too nice for everyday use and need a special occassion).

It isn't hard to teach kids to sit at table, use their cutlery in the right order and not to lick their knife. No need to spend tons of cash to get someone else to do it. Use the cash saved to buy more nice tableware!

they're too nice for everyday use and need a special occassion

I think it was Laura's Mum in Little House on the Prairie who said that special tableware wasn't for special occasions it was for special people, and she couldn't think of any people more special than her own family.

    Enjoy your nice platters!
