Good news for anyone who has a craving for high-end Italian cuisine but can't usually afford to dine at famous and expensive Italian restaurants in Japan. "Italian Restaurant Week" will be held nationwide from Oct 25 to Nov 9. It is the second edition of the event which was a great success last year.

During the period, 207 participating Italian restaurants in Japan will offer special courses at 2,000 or 5,000 yen for lunch and 5,000 or 10,000 yen for dinner. Since this project's goal is to promote Italian food and wine, at least one DOP (Denominazione di Origine Protetta) ingredient is used in the meal, and the most suitable wine for the dish is served to customers who wish.

Though this project is organized by Diners Club International, anyone can take part and order the special courses. If you are a member of Diners Club, you have some privileges.

At an event to promote Italian Restaurant Week, Italian Ambassador Domenico Giorgi said he hoped the event would help make Japanese diners aware of another important appointment with Italian gastronomy: EXPO Milan 2015.

Reservations will be accepted from Oct 11 for Diners Club members and from Oct 18 for everyone else.
