Starbucks Refreshers to hit store shelves June 25

Starbucks Refreshers, fruit juice-based beverages lightly caffeinated with green coffee extract, went on sale last year in the United States and have finally made their way over to Japan. Packaged in 200ml cans, the drink will go on sale at Seven Eleven’s nationwide for 191 yen excluding tax from June 25.

Though five flavors are available in the U.S., Japan will initially see two: Very Berry Hibiscus and Cool Lime.

Containing real fruit juice, vitamins B and C, ginseng, and of course the most important component in making it a refreshing pick-me-up, caffeine, Refreshers promise to deliver tasty, thirst-quenching invigoration when consumed.

Containing real fruit juice,

Yeah ok....2% or 3%, so if one does the math in a 200ml can that's what 4ml or 6 ml? Cheapskates!

It's no wonder I never buy prepackaged Starbucks products. Not to mention that they are way, way, overpriced!

I'm with Yubaru. I'll buy a coffee now and then at Starbucks, usually take out, and the odd mango frapuccino when it's scorching hot and I don't want any of the sugar-laden cream fraps or lattes, but the prepackaged stuff is meaningless -- it's obviously not fresh, and is definitely overpriced due to the name.

Bah Humbug! Wait till you try the refreshers, they are really tasty and addicting. I predict they will sell well here.

I've tried the Very Berry Hibiscus and the Cool Lime. The lime is really quite good - very refreshing, not the usual citrus, it has notes of mint and cucumber, and the tad of caffeine is a nice pick up. The hibiscus is a bit too sweet and flowery for me, but it's also quite different from the usual "fruit punch" flavor.

It's becoming a habit of mine to have one around 4 PM at work, and it suffices to replace a late afternoon tea or coffee to make it through the rest of the day. I use the mix packet singles and shake them into a bottled water. I hope these don't go away.

The other US flavors are Orange-Melon, Raspberry-Pomegranate, and Strawberry Lemonade.

Is the cool lime in the can the same flavour as the one you can get in the Starbucks stores in the US? Had one in Hawaii and it was pretty damn good. Bit expensive at $5 or so, but wasnt overly sweet, which is what i wanted.

Meh. I've had them in NY and they aren't very good or worth the money. I wonder how long the lines will be.....

Starbucks IS overpriced compared to other similar outlets, but I have to say I enjoy a Sunday afternoon at my local one, seated in a comfortable armchair with a cool frappacino and a good book
