I think Japan will have to start sleeping in the spare room because of America's snoring and will also continue to turn a blind eye to America's occasional infidelities.
The economic, political, military and social bonds between Japan and the US are all too strong for any major change or rupture to occur. All the variables line up on the side of the alliance getting closer rather than more distant; an increasingly nationalist and expansionist China, a more aggressive Soviet Union, nK marching towards either a succession or implosion, the possibility of a unified Korea that would be more of a competitor than ally, European leaders conitinuing to focus internally rather than globally, etc.
Why is it that the minute a new Prime Minister takes office in Japan they hightail it to the USA to meet the President. Is this like a dream come true or something for Japanese Political folks?? Certainly not the case in reverse. "Hey now i am the U.S President i think i will fly my ar&e to Japan to meet with umm whatshisname?"
Look at Zimbabwe to get an idea of how bad things are going to get for the U.S. and A.
The U.S. dollar is toxic; the Nipponese don't want to be lending any more money to the U.S. until they straighten out their own country first.
The U.S. can't live off borrowing from the Chinese and the Japanese forever. Would the Americans rather jump off a 30-foot balcony now or a 500-foot one later? It appears, under Obama, to be "later".
Shifting U.S. military forces to the Philippines will also happen.
Im hoping MAJORLY decrease to nearly nothing ;D, be one of those long dfistant friends you just happen to lose contact with over the years ^^ Will make me oh so very happy
This is a English website, not Japanese. Perhaps the English should take a vacation in Japan and learn for themselves how their relationship will provision.

I think Americans will start eating more sunshine, and Japanese will hopefully start smoking less. Then the relations between us can be more on par.
