How do you think the opposition Democratic Party of Japan, under new leader Yukio Hatoyama, will fare in the next election against the ruling Liberal Democratic Party?
Can you get odds anywhere on this? you can on elections in other countries. If you can't get odds at Lloyds, then it's proof that the system here is rigged, just like Sumo.
Worst decision ever. The DPJ seem determined to keep the LDP in power. They can't even capitalize on all the material Aso and Co. give them - that just about sums up how useless they are.
Rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic. Ozawa should never have been leader, he was always better as a backroom dealer. Hatoyama and Okada could not a horse to water. They are as inspiring as a dead man. To quote a famous Australian politician "can a souffle rise twice."
it's the dawning of a new era akin to the rennaisance or age of enlightenment. then again prolly not. scandal within 6 months, bye bye hatoyama. most people already dislike him over the kusanagi response.
In my opinion, they oposition party is going to get more power, but I dont think that is going to be a big change in the control of power, like some of us want. Mostly because they lack a strong reform agenda, these is mora about LDP becoming less popular than about DP being more popular. The only difference for us is one letter less, the rest looks the same thing.
Hatoyama makes Aso look good by comparison. Aso at least can speak to foreign dignitaries in English and pretend to be civil. It's all puppet theater anyway. The one actually pulling the strings will be Ozawa.
Hope they stomp on the LDP. The LDP has driven Japan into the weakest financial position, as measured by public debt, of all the major countries. A major change in direction is needed.
Does it make any difference ?? Absolutely nothing will change as usual....the guy will get ripped in debates,he should put his wife in,at least she has a strong character....and anyway, what is it with his hairstyle ??

With Hatoyama at the helm, I'm quite sure things will take a rapid dive.

"Changing the face" can change nothing. But "facing the change" can change everything, all depends upon eligible j-voters.

Won't make any difference which clowns run this circus anyway - more of the same whoever wins.

Except that even Takamisakari would probably make a better PM than all the stuffed-suits currently clogging the works.

He will win. He is the only person that will be able to win, whereby win-win is achieved.

The DPJ will lose to the LDP-Komeito coalition.
