What do you think of the baby hatch, set up by Jikei Hospital in Kumamoto, as a place where mothers who are unable or unwilling to care for newborn children can anonymously leave them to be cared for?

They should be available all over Japan, with promises the mother will not be traced as long as the baby has not been harmed. Failure to get medical attention resulting in birth trauma should be prosecuted, and abortion should be free before 12 weeks.

If it save the life of even one baby then it is a success.

It's a good idea, it's just getting bad press because of the one mom.

+1 Necessary. Have to make sure you have a good place for the kids to go to, though.

It's a good idea but also make an effort to get these women to meet prospective adopters during their pregnancy.
