I am always amazed at the type of questions posed. Nobody would ever ask in a UK newspaper "what do you think of the fashion sense of young London women". Are we bordering on racism here?

Fashion sense? How about the ones that are busy making up while sitting in the silver seats? Money buys alot, but it can't buy sense, that's an inward quality. Otherwise, what passes for sense here only lasts as long as the women are single. Once they get married, they throw fashion to the wind, and along with it goes their sense of manners. Welcome to the land of wa---ha-ha-ha.

Undisputedly young Japanese have the most wildest (and wierdest) and coolest fashion sense in all of Asia. They set the trend for modern fashion in East Asia.

Indeed they have GREAT fashion sense! Young ladies with the miniest, skimpiest, low cuts whatever the weather. So cool and wild which calls for courage to be attire in such a manner. I say flaunt it while you still have it and enjoy the good feelings. Feast for the eyes too.

you know it's funny how men encourage and enjoy skimpy & tacky fashion such as what we see in Shibuya-Shinjuku-Harajuku. However, I have never heard a woman make a remark about how they wish to see more legs, tight/short clothing on a man (nationality withstanding). Furthermore, if you saw a non-Asian woman wearing such clothing, you'd think she's working the streets or something.

I love the Lolita, Harajuku, and Visual Kei styles. But I hate the really slutty outfits. Sorry for the language, but it's true. Put on something DECENT. Good Lord, it's not hard. Wearing short outfits says all sorts of things. >>;

was overseas a few weeks ago, and noticed that most women under 25 tended to fall into locked-step with whatever the popular fashion magazine/TV programs told them to wear. as such, japan is not so unique in this regard. female consumers the world over, do as they are told, like good little automaton droids, so that Armanis and Lagerfelds of the world can continue to jetski around Ibiza and thumb/look down their noses @ everyone else.

There is some great fashion out there (and guess what its not all slutty). Japanese girls dress FAR better than the girls where I come from.
Japanese fashion tends to set the trend for the rest of Asia so Japanese fashionistas must be doing something right by East Asian standards.

But as everyone has pointed out there is some pretty terrible slutty fashion out there...
