Going full Howard Hughes. I've walled myself off from all human contact, communicate only via electronic means, get my microwave meals slid under my door by servants fully geared in HASMAT suits.
Now, all I have to do is bang a couple of Hollywood stars and build a giant wooden goose, and my plans will have come to fruition!
Got my Flu-Shot other than that life is as usual.
But agree with face masks as being a cause of Flu they way they are normally used is useless as the virus will be transferred by constantly touching them, etc.
Since flu is caused by viruses that can produce millions of copies within our cell as long as your immune system can stay one step ahead of the virus, you'll feel better again quickly. So strategies that support your immune system health will help you to ward off all types of viruses. Healthy eating, exercise, sleep, stress are all factors that I be address to keep well. Unfortunately vaccinations will only partially protect you from a couple of viruses it contains.
I use the Force and push away anyone who comes within 10 meters of me. Keep your midichlorians to yourself! I don't want them! May the Flu Be With You, and not with me!

Unfortunately, GW, the vast majority of us don't have that luxury. But I'll continue washing my hands and rinsing my mouth as soon as I get home, like I've been doing for years, lol.
Who cares? One more 'sky is falling' excuse for trying to eradicate a simple virus has caused said simple virus to mutate, which makes for another kind of flu shot, which then causes the new virus to mutate, which makes for another kind of flu shot, ad nauseum.
Like a few commenters have sanely said, wash your hands, avoid people with the flu, and if you can't avoid them because they're rude enough to go to work sick, tell them to go home or you won't have anything to do with them until they're better.
And if you work with kids, or have a few at home who are going to school, tell them about the simple things I (and others, here) just wrote about. Most of my experience with flu - and I haven't had it in years - came about when my daughter went to school; that's where most of the problem originates, believe it or not.
