This is just a beginning and we have not seen anything yet to come.

The US medical groups are now utilizing the 3D technology beyond the breast screening.

My wife is in favour of this machine, she also said is it as painful as the normal machine? because the ones that they use at the present time squash her boobs flat to take the picture, so if the new one don't do this woman will be more likely to use them!!

The science simply does not back up the use of routine mammograms as a means to prevent cancer death. Analysis of 30 years of breast screening show mammograms do more harm than good. Unfortunately 3D-tomosynthesis results in at least twice as much radiation as a standard mammogram. Thus more research is needed because there is no data to prove that the technology save lives, and won't result in a greatly increased risk of breast cancer in the future. A radiation-free tool called thermography is a better option because it detects breast cancer in its earliest stages by locating irregular patterns in the breast and conditions that occur before a noticeable lump is formed. Therefore it benefits all women and is quick, non-invasive and makes no contact with the body. However preventing breast cancer is far more important and powerful than simply trying to detect it after it has already formed.
