The biggest drawback to chemotherapy is it destroys healthy cells throughout the body along with cancer cells. The typical side effect is the destruction of the multiplying and dividing cells found in the bone marrow, digestive system, reproductive system, and hair follicles. Unfortunately chemotherapy is expensive and the medication highly toxic. It can give some people just a few months to live, or worse end up killing themselves prematurely. The bottom line is to do the research for yourself, and make an educated decision about which course of treatment to take. In the end a decision like this is simply too important to leave solely in the hands of your doctor.
