Of course there are side effects. Is anyone really surprised?
Don't believe anything big pharma tells you about their products being 'safe'

Presently it is impossible to make a drug that is safe for all people. It is as simple as that. A few people out of 100,000 people being affected is as safe as it gets at this point. With more understanding of gene SNPS in the future medications could well be designed for different gene types, but it isn't possible yet.
Clotting happens with birth control 5-10 cases out of 100,000...post-partum clotting occurs in 60 out of 100,000 women. The pill is safer than the post-partum period.
Because a handful of people react to a drug doesn't mean it's unsafe, and I feel it's rash to label every side effect as plotting by 'big pharma'. 'Big pharma' in itself is a misnomer....drug companies engage in cutthroat competition, they're not all getting together plotting things, far from it. A successful new drug can be worth billions.

Of course, having children, particularly unwanted ones, carries no health risks whatsoever. Sure thing, eh?
