    It was a common trick to drink grapefruit juice along with your entire bottle of cough syrup, actually. Since it was such a common trick, I figured it would affect other things and that people would know about it...

    ... I cannot believe that Canadian medicine is this far behind. My doctor back home has been warning me about citris and many medications not playing well together for the last decade at least. He was pointed out that the old wives tale about vitamin C helping to fight off colds and 'flu is completely baseless, and I'd be better served (in terms of health) by having two glasses of luke-warm water with my breakfast than a glass of orange juice or grapefruit juice.

    I have just been listening to a podcast where a BBC reporter interviews this researcher, and there are errors in the Japan today report:

    the number of medications with the potential to interact with grapefruit and cause serious adverse health effects has jumped from 17 to 43 in the last four years - Incorrect, on the BBC interview he says 44.

    Other citrus fruits such as Seville oranges and limes can have similar effects. - Incorrect. On the BBC interview he explicitly states that Seville oranges and limes DO NOT contain the enzyme responsible for this effect, and says that they are safe.

    JT, I know you just got this story from AFP, but these sort of checkable errors in fact are unacceptable.
