It was a common trick to drink grapefruit juice along with your entire bottle of cough syrup, actually. Since it was such a common trick, I figured it would affect other things and that people would know about it...

... I cannot believe that Canadian medicine is this far behind. My doctor back home has been warning me about citris and many medications not playing well together for the last decade at least. He was pointed out that the old wives tale about vitamin C helping to fight off colds and 'flu is completely baseless, and I'd be better served (in terms of health) by having two glasses of luke-warm water with my breakfast than a glass of orange juice or grapefruit juice.
