If the gynecologists are willing to abandon the very successful pap smear tests and the new DNA test proves to be so much better and shows that a single screening beats all other methods preventing cervical cancer and death it would be wonderful.

Except as I understand it, it wouldn't be one test. You can contract HPV after you get the test. So you would still have to get tested regularly. This test is just much more sensitive to what are likely to become non-problems.
