The outlook seems bleak. I am glad not to be living in an area endemic to malaria, but with global warming, temperate zones may someday change enough to become welcoming to malaria.

Perhaps this disease needs to be fought with a new paradigm. Blood filtration, or a way to induce sickle cell anemia, may be needed, when drug resistance is complete. Perhaps a second parasite can be found, that attacks only the malaria parasite.
