Pets like dogs can improve the quality of life like acting as a helping hand for the disabled to providing us with companionship including getting some regular exercise with an appropriate daily walk. This companionship can improve psychological and physiological health including lower blood pressure, cholesterol levels, cardiovascular, endocrine and immune functioning. They even have a calming effect when we pet them to offering unconditional love and affection. Also growing up with a pet can assist in the social development of children providing opportunities to learn responsibility, empathy and respect by living with and caring for a pet.
