Never mind the "legality" of it. If you have unprotected sex with someone who has had multiple partners, its like playing Russian roulette. And there are plenty of STDs other than HIV which will ruin you. A wise friend once told me "The benefit has to be worth the risk." (though we weren't talking about this topic). Is it worth your life or health?

Way too much logic in this article for the moral right to be able to comprehend.

They should legalise it like my home country. Rules govern when, where and how. The girls/boys need to have a biweekly health checkup and using Condoms is compulsory.

Street walking is forbidden, only Bordells allowed.

Legalise this activity & put the pimps out of buisness, healthy taxation would be realised, the ladies would be monitored & the tax money could be put toward ending Human trafficking & there may be less lonely people in the world!

Try to convince the average Japanese person that HIV even exists in Japan.

I wonder why they don't study the Swedish model in more detail, instead of just writing an unsubstantiated opinion piece?

They used to be called prostitutes and whores now sex workers....

Well, while it's not for me, I prefer it to be regulated and controlled in developed nations. Lotsa luck in developing nations, regulation seems lacking for the most part.

It's termed the worlds oldest occupation for a reason. Demand for pay as you go was always will always be there.

For the thumbs downer, you go right ahead with your cavalier lifestyle. Hope you have good heath insurance.

@Scrote because the Swedish model is unfairly discriminatory, giving the women absolutely no punishment whatsoever? According to your thinking, it would also be acceptable to go the route of Afghanistan: it is difficult to be a prostitute if you are locked up in someone's house.

The answer is full on decriminalization. Again it makes no sense to punish people for victim-less crimes.
