Interesting science. Reducing such diseases will have the knock-on effect of extending life, even though that's not the prime focus of the research. I guess that means future generations will have to seriously save for their retirements right from their '20s. Already, a big concern in society is people out-living their private pensions. And the state pensions? Well we all know the health status of* those* things in Britain (my country) and Japan. Being young and supposedly carefree could be a whole lot different with the development of this science (not saying it's a bad thing tho')

I'm weary of this kind of research... unlocking the secrets of aging and/or resulting in the prevention of aging will have very serious consequences in an already over populated world.

Yeah i hope they get the research completed very soon, but as mentioned by others extending the health span will mean more elderly people will be able to work longer, less jobs more people could create major social issues.

Most people would welcome it. Anyone who has lost someone close knows what I am talking about.

I'm a big fan of the idea of "quality of life enhancement into late years" types of research taking a significant precedent over "life extension" research, its amazing to think of what the human race could accomplish if we weren't spending so much of our lives fighting sickness.
