Have a good friend who does research into the effects of coffee and something to keep in mind is that not just any coffee will do. I wonder if this report went into that aspect of coffee? Evidently, the health benefits of coffee are many, but they are dependent upon the purity of the blend.
As for skin cancer, wouldn't limiting exposure to the sun be common sense?

Men who consumed six or more cups per day had a 60 percent lower risk of developing lethal prostate cancer. Those who drank 3 cups a day had a 30 percent lower risk according to a study of Harward. Coffee is very healthy but drinking 6 cups is a bit too much. Green and rooibos tea also offer anti-cancer properties.
According to my personal study of 5 consecutive years cancer free, it has all to do with a healthy diet. Spice your food up with turmeric, drink Barley Grass in a green smoothie, take Spirulina, astaxanthin, eat a lot more raw food, avoid sugar, cook with coconut oil, use chemical free cosmetic products and shampoo, stay in the sun at least 30 minutes a day and exercice.

Given that to die from BCC you have to be seriously neglectful of your body over a period of many years I think I will stick to my daily one cup of coffee and avoid bouncing myself off the walls every day - I am hyper enough as it is without an extra 3 cups per day!
Foxie - great advice and congratulations on your 5 cancer free years!
Lots of questions though! What is Barley Grass and where do I get it? Ditto Spirulin and astaxanthin? I thought coconut oil was v v bad for you? (especially the heart?) What brands of cosmetics in Japan are chemical-free and avoid sugar? Really??! Is just a little bit ok every day???!

You can get barley grass powder in any drugstore in Japan, looks like this: http://kanpo-yamamoto.com/html/item-001/item-001-001.html Spirulina and astaxanthin from Nutrex Hawaii. Coconut oil is very good for you, google up its benefits. I get my cosmetics from the US. I sweeten my foods with honey, palm sugar, and maple syrup.

Nicky - you can buy all of those things and more, and have them delivered to Japan very quickly and cheaply, through a website called iHerb. I've been buying from them for a couple years now, they are incomparable re. service and range. I take a lot of the stuff Foxie mentions too: turmeric, barley grass, astaxanthin, coconut oil, and use toiletries only from this company. I should exercise and get some sun next!

Can't wait for Starbucks to start making medical claims of the benefits of downing those 500 kilo calorie chocolate brownie frappuccino's, "Remember, three-a-day will keep the oncologist away!"

Yep! Meanwhile the heart specialist is seeing yen signs and rubbing his hands together in glee!

I knew coffee was good for something else than helping me get going in the morning.
